Regional Chamber names Coviello as CEO

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber has named Guy Coviello as the chamber's permanent CEO, effective March 1.

Coviello joined the chamber in 2014 and spent four years as the chamber's vice president of government affairs before being made president of the Regional Chamber Foundation in 2018, according to a Wednesday afternoon release from the chamber.

He'll take over for Tom Humphries, the former chamber CEO who re-assumed leadership after former CEO James Dignan was released in November 2019.

"I am honored to have been chosen to lead the organization forward and I am confident that by working together with other leaders at the local, regional and state level, we can accelerate the growth and expansion that our region is very capable of achieving," Coviello is quoted in the release. "I also consider myself fortunate to inherit an enthusiastic and dedicated chamber staff and a committed board of directors."

Coviello worked on the editorial side of the Tribune Chronicle newspaper for nearly 30 years. He led the chamber's Columbus Drive-In and Washington Fly-In events. He also participated in an Ohio Chamber of Commerce Research Foundation project in 2017 and was named to the Campaign for America's Energy Ohio Steering Committee, according to the release.

Michael Schrock, chamber board chairman, said Coviello "expressed a clear vision of how he would embrace collaboration and enhance relationships with local, regional and state organizations such as JobsOhio, TeamNEO and many others."

In the release, Humphries, the 20-year chamber CEO who returned last year to lead the organization through the pandemic while a permanent CEO was selected, said: "It has been an honor to represent this organization throughout the years and especially through a very challenging 2020, when one of our key initiatives focused on helping businesses emerge from the aftermath of the pandemic."
