Friends of the Library donates $50K to Main Library’s Teen Room
YOUNGSTOWN — The Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County donated $50,000 to the Main Library's Teen Room.
Eric Grischow, treasurer of the Friends of the PLYMC Board, and board member Natalie Lariccia on Wednesday presented the check to Aimee Fifarek, PLYMC executive director and CEO. The group raised the money through sales from the Friends of the PLYMC Bookstore located in the Poland Library, book sales and events such as the Car Show and Brew Ha Ha.
"The Friends of the Library is proud to announce this donation for the Main Library's Teen Room," Deborah Liptak, PLYMC development director, said in a news release. "The Friends of the Library are committed to partnering with the library to provide a safe and fun place for teens across the Valley to enjoy."
The teen space, located on the Main Library's first floor as part of the recently opened Family Engagement Center, features furniture that is easy to move around, white boards to collaborate ideas and places for teens to plug in and charge their devices.
"The Friends of the Library are strong partners and supporters of PLYMC and our mission," Fifarek said. "We are extremely grateful for their generosity and their commitment to making a difference for our library and our communities."
