TJX HomeGoods workers ratify 3-year union contract
LORDSTOWN — Unionized workers at the village's new TJX HomeGoods distribution center have ratified a three-year collective bargaining agreement.
More than 700 workers will be covered under the agreement, which includes a $3 wage increase, a choice of health plan and vacation and sick time, according to the Business Journal.
Workers had chartered a local chapter of the Chicago and Midwest Regional Joint Board of Workers United, the Journal reported. The ratification vote was met with 98 percent approval.
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, who worked with local officials and state lawmakers to bring the distribution center to Lordstown, said in a Friday statement:
"The success of TJX is a huge win for our community, and this agreement is a huge win for Ohio and the more than 700 workers at the heart of this facility. This success is exactly what happens when we check our egos at the door and work together."
