YSU, Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County report hoax messages
(UPDATE: The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County also reported a hoax message today.)
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County are warning people on campus and the public about hoax messages being sent.
A text message claiming that a case of coronavirus was confirmed at YSU is a hoax, the university said in a news release today.
There have been no confirmed cases of the virus at YSU. In the event of an official YSU alert, an email bearing the same message would be sent.
The PLYMC said today it has received information that hoax messages about a robbery at the library have been sent by an unidentified source. There has been no robbery at a PLYMC library, according to a news release.
YSU and the PLYMC urge anyone who received the messages to not open the links.
