Ultium Cells continues hiring campaign; new dates for career fair, public presentation

LORDSTOWN — Ultium Cells LLC, Lordstown's General Motors-backed electric vehicle battery plant, wants to meet new jobseekers and the general public this week.
A career fair is set for 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastwood Mall's Event Centre, 5555 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles.
Community members can also meet company representatives and learn more about Ultium Cells during an event from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center, 436 Struthers Coitsville Road, Lowellville.
Ultium Cells LLC is a $2 billion joint venture between GM and South Korea's LG Energy Solutions to make batteries for some of GM's new electric vehicles. The 2.8-million-square-foot facility expects to employ 1,100 people.
"This is a great opportunity for us to connect with the community and help people learn more about a career in battery cell manufacturing, no matter their previous working experience," Ultium COO Tom Gallagher is quoted in a news release. "We are excited to deliver upon our commitment to creating new jobs in northeast Ohio and we look forward to helping the community get on the ground floor with us and be a part of a team producing battery cells for electric vehicles."
