There’s a lot to gobble up at YCSD PRIDE meeting
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown City School District families have an opportunity to learn how the district spends state dollars, provide input into the parent engagement plan — and even get a free turkey.
PRIDE — Parents Realizing Involvement Determines Education — will host the district's annual Title I meeting at 5 p.m. Friday (Nov. 22) at East High School, 474 Bennington Ave.
"The meeting is a great opportunity for our parents to learn about the many family engagement programs and their rights as it pertains to the federal programming in our district and schools," Ava Yeager, chief of school improvement, said in a news release.
Attendees also have the opportunity to provide input regarding the district's parent engagement plan. YCSD families who attend also will receive a turkey to take home, just in time for the holidays.
"The turkey giveaway is something we've been doing at the city schools for many years," said Linda Hoey, chief of family engagement. "It's a small way we can help our families have a happy holiday season. I think they appreciate it."
The turkeys are donated by 1-888 Ohio Comp each year to be distributed to district families.
