BUSINESS UPDATES | Cafaro Foundation awards $90,000 in scholarships

NILES — Cafaro Foundation trustees recently approved $90,000 in scholarships to help area students advance their college or high school educations.

The 30 winners are from communities in the Ohio and Pennsylvania region. They were selected primarily for their academic merit, while the trustees also considered the students' financial need and the recommendations of teachers and guidance counselors, a news release states.

Matthew Fabian of Girard was awarded the William M. and Alyce Cafaro Scholarship.

Winners of John A. Cafaro scholarships are Kaelyn Cleevely; Morgan Cleevely; Justin Clegg; Louis Devicchio; Naomi Domitrovich; Leah Durkin; Evan Economos; Rachel Fabry; Alexis Gonda; Patrick Howlett Jr.; Riki Kaiser; Alyssa Kosovan; Gabriella Locastro; Sidney Marenkovic; Cara McNally; Jamie Nelson; Anthony Orr; Dylan Peplowski; Colleen Rowland; Jenna Sajnovsky; Taylor Sebastiano; Zoe Schlosser; and Isabella Spano.

Donald P. Pipino Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Dana Atway; Bronson DeAngelo; Kailah Gregory; Cameron Hollobaugh; Brandon Malahtaris and Catrina Wright.

Boardman Civic Association awards scholarships to 7 students

BOARDMAN — The Boardman Civic Association awarded scholarships to seven township students at its annual scholarship awards event May 6.

This year's recipients are:

  • Elizabeth Amstutz — Boardman High School;
  • Gia Ditullio — Boardman High School;
  • Alannah Hetzel — Boardman High School;
  • Sam Holter — Boardman High School;
  • Emma Tokarsky — Boardman High School;
  • Morgan Cherne — Boardman High School;
  • Tatiana Tolson — Cardinal Mooney High School.

The graduating high school seniors have each demonstrated excellence in academic, civic and community participation, a news release states. They will receive a $750 scholarship to the college of their choice.

The Boardman Civic Association is a group of local business, civic and community leaders who are invested in the growth and development of the Boardman area. The group welcomes any Boardman resident or business to join and participate in its events.
