YOUNGSTOWN — At-home, rapid COVID-19 test kits are available for free at Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County branches.

To reserve a kit, call 330-744-8636. They are available for curbside pickup. Mahoning County residents who are homebound and are qualifying patrons of the library's special delivery service can also request a test kit to be mailed by calling 330-792-3869 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If patrons are ill, experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who is ill or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, the library asks that a family member or friend be sent to pick up a kit. Patrons should take the tests at home, not at the library, a news release states.

Supplies are limited, so the library asks that patrons request only one kit per household. The library does not collect any personal information from patrons and reports only the number of test kits distributed, the release states.

The BinaxNOW rapid, at-home tests are antigen tests that detect the virus when people are most infectious. An email address, internet connection and a device with a webcam, such as a smartphone, tablet or computer, are required. Digital health solutions provider eMed will deliver results to the user through the NAVICA app in 15 minutes.

The library recommends that patrons consult with their physician for personal health questions or assessments.

For more information about the test, call eMed customer support at 844-943-0061.
