BOARDMAN — Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley, 6505 Market St., will have a drive-thru flu vaccine clinic from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 1).

The drive-thru will be set up in the parking lot near Building C. Appointments can be made by calling 330-543-2778.

"In this time of social distancing, drive-thru flu clinics will provide a safe and convenient option for Boardman-area families," Dr. Eric Robinette, infectious disease specialist at Akron Children's Hospital, said in a news release. "The vaccine is a proven way to reduce serious complications from the flu."

Children 6 months to 4 years old will receive flu shots in the leg that is closest to the vehicle door or window. Therefore, parents are encouraged to dress their kids in onesies or shorts. Children 4 and older will receive flu shots in the upper arm, so they should wear short sleeves or clothing that can be easily removed.

Participants are asked to have their masks or face coverings up before putting their vehicle windows down. Masks will be available for families who don't have them.
