Warrior '21 set Saturday at Canfield Fairgrounds
CANFIELD — The Second annual Mahoning Valley Warrior '21 will feature area athletes in a fundraiser for the Autism Society of the Mahoning Valley.
The event will be Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
Athletes will compete for prizes in a 5K, Ninja Obstacle Course, People-Powered Truck Pull and Strongman events. Spectators should enter the fairgrounds through Gate 9. Events will be held near the grandstand.
New this year will be a pentathlon, with the winner receiving a championship belt and a $500 prize.
A one-mile Autism Support Walk will be available.
The fund-raiser supports the Knapp Center for Childhood Development for community support of families affected by autism.

Champion scouts host car show Saturday
CHAMPION — Cub Scout Pack 4025 will host a show for cars, Jeeps and motorcycles on Saturday.
The show will be available from noon to 4 p.m. at Champion Christian Church, 151 Center St. The show is free to the public with show vehicle spots on asphalt for a fee of $10. Spectators are asked to bring a food donation for the church's pantry
Crafters and food vendors will be present. Scout demonstrations will be on view during the afternoon.

Lit Youngstown workshop to focus on villains
Lit Youngstown is offering the workshop "A Great Villain Kills It" Saturdays in June.
The workshop is focused on addressing villainy: crafting believable villains, looking at how they direct a story, and creating three-dimensional bad guys. The goal will be for writers to craft or improve on a villain in a piece of fiction they are working on.
N.P. Stokes, who holds a Bachelor’s in English from Youngstown State University, will lead the workshop. He is writer of realism, creative fiction and poetry, as well as literary criticism. His works have been published in The Penguin Review and he works as the prose editor for Volney Road Review.
The Zoom program for teens and adults runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Course fee is $25. To register, click.
Upton House schedules open house Sunday.
WARREN — The Upton Association will hold an open house Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave.
E Carol Maxwell will portray Harriet Taylor Upton as she welcomes visitors to tour her home and gardens.
JCC offers “Comic Book” course, Beatles workshop
YOUNGSTOWN — The Paul and Yetta Gluck School of Visual Arts at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering “Create A Comic Book,” a four-week course for ages 13 to 17.
Participants will create a brand new superhero for their comic book world. All supplies are included. The class will meet Mondays through June 28 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at 505 Gypsy Lane.
Cost is $40 for JCC members and $55 for non-members.
Also Monday, a “Beatles Workshop” for students ages 9 to 17 begins. The workshop runs from 6 to 7 p.m. through July 26.
Participants will sing and dance to classic rock tunes by the Beatles. A showcase will be performed at the end of the workshop. The cost is $150 for JCC members and $170 for non-members. Visit jccyoungstown.org to register for either.
MVAC cancels Taste of the Faiths
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Association of Churches has canceled Taste of the Faiths 2021.
Taste of the Faiths will return in spring 2022, officials said in a news release. The annual festival celebrates the foods of the congregations of the Mahoning Valley.
