Gov. Mike DeWine and first lady Fran DeWine will attend the Mahoning Valley Scrappers game at Eastwood Field in Niles on Sunday to promote the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library program.

Before the game, the DeWines will talk with those in attendance about the importance of early childhood literacy at the Imagination Library enrollment table, according to a news release.

The DeWines will also participate in an Imagination Library graduation ceremony for 5-year-olds who completed the program, the release states. The ceremony will take place on the field before the first pitch.

The Imagination Library program mails children an age-appropriate book each month until their fifth birthday. All children in Ohio are eligible to be enrolled in the free program. For more information, visit the program’s website.

Sunday’s Scrappers game against the West Virginia Black Bears will begin at 2:05 p.m. Fans who bring nonperishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley or new children’s books for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will receive a free general admission ticket to the game.
