YOUNGSTOWN — The Eastern Gateway Community College Board of Trustees voted to terminate the contract of President Dr. Jimmie Bruce, according to a news release.

The release states that Bruce was terminated for "dereliction of duty" and "inappropriate management practices."

Michael Geoghegan will serve as the interim president of Eastern Gateway Community College. Both Bruce and Vice President James D. Miller were placed on administrative leave on Jan. 7.

"Today's actions are regrettable, but necessary, to restore confidence in the leadership of Eastern Gateway Community College and to continue the growth we have seen, on campus and online," said board chair James Gasior in a news release.
