WARREN — Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is collaborating with Warren City Schools and the Ohio National Guard to host a Traveling Food Pantry distribution at 11 a.m. today at Warren G. Harding High School. The food will be distributed in front of the football stadium.

The Food Bank and members of the Ohio National Guard are prepared to serve more than 500 families. The distribution includes meat, fresh fruit and vegetables.

In order to participate in this zero-contact distribution, recipients' trunks must be open and clear of all belongings, and windows must be rolled up. Recipients are not to exit their vehicle for any reason.

"Nearly 18,000 people a week in our Valley are seeking emergency food assistance, which is a 40 percent increase," Michael Iberis, executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank, said in a news release.

The Traveling Food Pantry will make its next stop at 11 a.m. June 1 at Maplewood High School and 11 a.m. June 4 at Beaver Local Schools. Additional dates and locations are being planned for summer.
