$210K in federal funds coming to the Valley for economic development
The U.S. Economic Development Administration on Thursday awarded $210,000 to the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments to create and implement an economic development strategy for the region.
“Ohio workers can compete with anyone in the world, and this investment will help local communities remain competitive,” U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said in a news release. “This will help create more good-paying jobs in Ohio and position the region to lead in new and growing industries.”
The economic development strategy process will bring together public and private sectors to create a plan to “diversify and strengthen” the economy in Mahoning, Trumbull and Ashtabula counties, according to the release.
“As the Mahoning Valley continues to build out the infrastructure that will position our region to lead the economy of the future, the Eastgate Council of Governments remains a key partner in connecting our business community with the tools needed to drive job creation and economic development,” U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, said in a separate news release.
