Youngstown-based health center ONE Health Ohio was awarded $65,500 in American Rescue Plan funds, according to a Tuesday news release.

The funds are part of $3.5 million awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support 54 health centers in Ohio.

The funds will be used to “detect, prevent, diagnose and treat COVID-19” and to “help maintain or increase health center capacity and staff those organizations who receive funding,” the release states.

“The funds are to be used to continue modernizing our efforts to identify and respond to specific needs of patients and communities through improved data quality, advancing COVID-19 response and helping to prepare for future public health emergencies,” Dr. Ronald Dwinnells, CEO of ONE Health Ohio, said in the release.

“Since we enacted the American Rescue Plan, we’ve invested millions into our community health centers to ensure our health care providers have the resources needed to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and keep our families safe and healthy,” U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, said in the release.

The Alliance Family Health Center and the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County each also received $65,500.
