DeWine suffers injury in East Palestine; will be in walking boot for 2-3 weeks

Gov. Mike DeWine has a displaced distal fibula fracture just above his ankle and will need to wear a boot for the next two to three weeks.

The injury was reported Monday morning by the Columbus Dispatch and confirmed to Mahoning Matters by his office.

He injured himself walking down the stairs at the First Church of Christ in East Palestine where Ohio opened a clinic in response to the Feb. 3 train derailment, reports indicated.

DeWine told the Columbus Dispatch on Sunday that “his foot caught on something,” but the injury won’t take him away from his work.
