Prosecutor Gina DeGenova and members of her staff met with Youngstown middle school students on Friday to discuss the various functions of her office highlighting the different types of jobs available within the office for those students who may be interested in a career in public service.

They also described their own pathways to success and encouraged students that it is never too early to begin to plan for their futures.

Joining DeGenova in the discussion were Chief Assistant Linette Stratford, Senior Attorney Lori Shells-Simmons, Director of Communications and Community Outreach Alan Rodges and Investigator Randy Malleske.

Why Mahoning County Prosecutor Gina DeGenova enjoys public service

This is the second time DeGenova and her staff met with area students.

Last October, they gave a presentation to nearly 300 Boardman eighth grade students to promote confidence by encouraging students to embrace their natural talents.

Prosecutor DeGenova and her team intend to continue to engage with area youth and plan to meet with elementary students soon.

“Now more than ever, it is important to engage our youth at an early age. They are our future.”
