Notebook: Youngstown Symphony Orchestra plans March 10 concert

Guest conductor Erik Ochsner and guest pianist David Allen Wehr will lead the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra during a “Musical Titans” concert 7:30 p.m. March 10 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The concert will feature pieces by the composers Gustav Mahler, Wolfgang Mozart and Richard Strauss.

Tickets are $42-$62, inclusive of all fees. Call 330-259-9651.

Youngstown City Council to hold budget hearings

Youngstown City Council’s Committee of the Whole will hold budget hearings at 4:30 p.m. March 9 to review the fire department’s budget and 5:15 p.m. to review the police budget.

The hearings will be held in the Sixth Floor Caucus Room of the city building.

Warren City Council has a new member

James Shaffer was named the new 4th Ward Warren City Council member.

He will serve the remainder of the term of Mark Forte who resigned from the position.

Shaffer, an educator and coach, graduated from John F. Kennedy High school and holds a Masters degree from Thiel College.

He is also on the May Democratic primary ballot for the next term which begins in 2024.
