Trumbull County coroner rules death of Girard man a homicide in officer-involved shooting

According to Trumbull County Coroner Lawrence D’Amico, the cause of death for 50-year-old Fred H. Wild was multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of his death was ruled as a homicide.

Investigating manner of death

According to reports, at 1 a.m. on March 21, Wild was seen trespassing, and, when confronted by police, he jumped out of a privately-owned cabin into a stolen pickup truck with a snowplow attached to the front.

Wild attempted to flee and “charged at officers with stolen vehicle.”

Police said multiple officers fired weapons and struck Wild, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

BCI is currently investigating the incident.
