A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested Friday night on charges of felony murder and three counts of attempted murder after the April 15 shooting death of Amya Monserrat.
And an Youngstown police official said “additional charges and arrests” are expected.
The arrest was announced Saturday morning in a press release from the Youngstown Police Department.
Police said arrest warrants were drawn up Friday night after consultation with Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center Prosecutors.
According to reports, the juvenile was taken into custody, questioned, and is currently incarcerated.
“It is important to understand that the investigation into her murder continues,” Youngstown Police Detective Jason Simon said. “YPD is still investigating this senseless and untimely death and additional charges and arrests are expected; therefore, we cannot reveal more details at this time. We are still seeking tips and information from the public to assist with the case.”
