The Youngstown Black Arts & Culture Council said the Annual Juneteenth Cultural Festival will take place on June 17-18 at the Raymond John Wean Park.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Galveston Texas in 1865.

Highlights of the festival include main street performances, cultural heritage and an African Marketplace.

”We are honored to host the Annual Juneteenth Cultural Festival, providing a platform for our community to reflect on our shared history, celebrate freedom, and promote cultural appreciation,” said Joseph Napier Jr., who serves as Juneteenth Committee Chair. “This event underscores our commitment to fostering inclusivity and unity among all residents of Youngstown. We invite everyone to join us and participate in this joyful celebration of African American culture and heritage.”
