Sheriff’s officers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties each received funds from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to help combat illegal drug activity.

The grants were among 44 given out to target drug trafficking, pharmaceutical diversion, and other organized criminal activity associated with the drug trade.

“No one knows better than local law enforcement the effects that drugs have on their own communities,” DeWine said. “This funding will support our local authorities as they work to take drugs off the streets.”

Here are the grants given to Mahoning Valley police agencies:

Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office - $102,189.87

Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office - $93,735.36

Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office - $78,998.33
