Firefighters rescue bird, ferret from burning Burghill home

Two pets are safe thanks to the Burghill Vernon Fire Department and first responders in multiple Trumbull County departments like the Brookfield Fire and EMS Department.

Firefighters rescued a bird and a ferret after a fire broke out inside the home, just north of Hubbard in Trumbull County.

According to the Burghill Vernon Fire Department, the fire started Thursday evening near the 5400 block of State Route 7 in Burghill.

Reports say the homeowner was trying to put the fire out with a hose, and when firefighters arrived, they could see the smoke from the house.

Firefighters with multiple departments responded including Fowler Fire Department, Johnston Fire Department, Kinsman Fire Dept. and Orangeville Vol Fire Dept. They were able to rescue the pets and put out the fire.

While the home still stands, the department said there’s heavy water, fire and smoke damage inside.

Reports say no one was injured in the fire.
