Youngstown City School District will officially be searching for a new superintendent after the resignation letter from Justin Jennings was released Friday night.

His last day will be June 30.

Jennings has been with the district as CEO since 2019 and helped lead the district and the superintendent role was added in 2022.

Jennings’ announcement came several days after a Saturday special meeting from the board which was called in response to a WFMJ investigation that investigated the spending of COVID-19 funds by him.

But Youngstown City School District Board of Education President Tiffany D. Patterson said in a email statement last week that Jennings’ reasoning for the resignation was private and she praised him for his service in Youngstown.
