MIKE BROWN: Canfield, South Range coaches honored before Jack Arvin All-Star Football Classic
It was great to see the Mahoning Valley Coaches Association make a special presentation to Canfield head football coach Mike Pavlansky and South Range football coach Dan Yeagley at last weekend’s annual Jack Arvin All-Star Football Classic at Canfield’s Bob Dove Field.
Pavlansky guided Canfield to its first-ever state title in football last fall when his Cardinals whipped Bloom Carroll 35-14 fCor the D3 state championship.
Meanwhile, Yeagley, who has since retired as South Range’s football coach, guided the Raiders to a 53-27 romp over the Ironton Tigers to capture the D5 state championship.
Both Pavlansky and Yeagley received plaques presented by the MVAC Coaches Association and received a large ovation from the crowd of 2,500 in attendance at the Jack Arvin Classic.
On the field, Mahoning County won the Arvin Classic with a 24-0 shutout of Trumbull County.
