Trumbull County inmate’s death announced
The Ohio Department of Corrections on Wednesday announced the death of Trumbull County inmate Richard Hadden, 71, who was in the Corrections Medical Center.
No cause of death was announced.
Hadden was sentenced on March 7, 2008, to a prison term of 18 ½ years by late Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge John M. Stuard on counts of rape, kidnapping and theft. A Trumbull County jury returned the guilty verdicts after a trial in February.
The jurors deliberated for more than seven hours in ending the case.
Twice during the trial, Hadden had to be removed from the courtroom by deputies because of verbal outbursts.
During trial testimony, a woman had accused Hadden of forcing himself on her and the attack then turned violent with an ice pick as a weapon. A police report stated the female victim had to escape from a barricaded room through a window.
