Celebrating the Diocese of Youngstown’s 80-year anniversary

It’s the 80-year anniversary of the establishment of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown.

An anniversary Mass will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Columba Cathedral.

After the anniversary mass, there’s a reception outside on the cathedral campus.

Check out the display of diocesan history inside the diocesan conference room and accessed via the main diocesan office entrance on Elm Street.

It’s available for viewing at 2 p.m. before the anniversary mass as well as after mass.

According to Justin Huyck, director of communications, the Diocese of Youngstown was established on May 15, 1943 and celebrations will continue over the course of the anniversary year.
