Community Foundation grants $486K to local organizations
Over $486,000 has been awarded to local organizations through grants from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
Shari Harrell, president of the Community Foundation, highlighted a few of the local revitalization projects receiving funds, including Home for Good Re-Entry Resource Referral Center and Ohio Urban Renaissance on North Avenue in Youngstown.
“There are so many great projects that received funding from CFMV fundholders and our supporting organizations. While the work spans a wide range of needs – from summer programs for kids to supporting cancer patients – all of it builds toward a Mahoning Valley that’s better for all,” said Harrell.
A large number of general funding was designated for mentoring young people, including $10,000 for YWCA girls STEAM summer camps and $10,000 for Kool Boiz Foundation to fund their young men’s mentoring program.
“We’re especially excited for the work done through the Young Philanthropist Fund, which gives many young professionals their first exposure to the world of philanthropy and the nonprofit sector,” she said.
