Paul Stanley is known worldwide as the energetic frontman and co-founder of the legendary hard rock band KISS.

He’s bringing his collection of artwork to the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown this August and hosting a special opening reception.

“Paul Stanley: The Other Side”

“Paul Stanley: The Other Side” will be open for public viewing starting Aug. 13 through Oct. 8.

The day before the exhibit opens, Stanley is hosting a meet-and-greet with two fans for a benefit for the Butler.

For a $1,000 donation to the Butler, two people will get to meet Stanley and see his 16 one-of-a-kind pieces full of color up close during the exhibit’s opening reception, which will be a limited private event.

Sue Carfano, the executive administrative assistant, works with the executive director of the Butler, Lou Zona. They’ve been running the exhibits and fundraising for the museum as a team for more than 40 years.

Carfano said Stanley’s team contacted her to organize an exhibit and hold a fundraiser. The money will go toward improving overall accessibility at the historical museum.

“His representative from Wentworth Galleries... got in touch with me and said, ‘Would you be interested?’” Carfano said. “We always have to look at the artists not just the celebrity name. So we picked up the show, and when he does shows they’re selling his pieces. Obviously, we’re not selling here, it’s being shown here, art museums don’t sell. It’s turned into a fundraiser; the price is high, but it’s for accessibility programs, which are very worthwhile...People are excited, they’re calling from all over, somebody from Sweden has been emailing us, ladies coming from San Francisco. They’re like, ‘I don’t care what the cost is. My wife or my husband’s so excited.’ So yeah, so that’ll be great. Besides the fundraising, its given us worldwide publicity.”

The guests will also get commemorative artwork hand-signed by Stanley.
