Former Youngstown State University assistant athletic director John Brown has been living in Goodyear, Arizona for the last several years serving as the assistant General Manager of business operations at the ballpark for the city of Goodyear.

Brown, in his student days at Warren G. Harding High School served as clubhouse manager for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at the Niles Eastwood Field.

Those Mahoning Valley residents who take the spring training pilgrimages to Goodyear each March can drop by the Goodyear Ballpark and say hello to John who is usually driving around in a golf cart.

He is the son of Warren City Council President John Brown.

Brown has another son George who also toiled in the Scrappers Clubhouse as a youth but later worked for both U.S. Sens. George Voinovich and Rob Portman and in the Trump Administration with the US. Small Business Administration and Federal Housing Finance Agency.

He is now public affairs manager for WM, a leading provider of integrated environmental solutions.

Both the Brown boys during their high school years, hosted radio sports talk shows in Warren.
