Mercy Health marks a long history of service as a religious community each summer with Humility of Mary Day.

The organization celebrates the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, founders of Mercy Health’s healthcare ministry in northeast Ohio.

Mercy Health of Youngstown team members spent July 17 at the Villa Maria, sitting in prayer, having dinner with the Sisters and helping care for the grounds of the Villa.

Learn more on Facebook about the history of the Sisters serving the community of northeast Ohio since the 1860s.

According to Mercy Health, the Sisters originally lived in France before traveling to America in 1864 to help Bishop Amadeus Rappe of Cleveland serve French immigrants in need.
