This week, Verizon announced the completion of a multi-year redesign of its network in Youngstown and Boardman.

According to Verizon, the company’s 5G ultra wideband service is now available for 88% of people in Youngstown, with expanded coverage and capacity in Boardman.

Crews upgraded the network along Market St (OH-7) near the Boardman High School and the Southwoods Commons shopping plaza to extend coverage and network capacity.

They also upgraded the fiber optic cables to move more data through the network.

Even for customers still using Verizon’s 4G LTE network, engineers installed a new cell site to expand coverage and capacity in the same area near the high school.

“Our network engineers work tirelessly to ensure we can provide the most reliable connections across Youngstown. We know customers count on us, and we work everyday to ensure we deliver for them,” said Dean Brauer, vice president of engineering and operations for Verizon.
