Warren man gets nine months in jail on firearm, receiving stolen property charges

The following cases were handled Tuesday before Judge Andrew D. Logan in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Savion C. Woodall, 21, of Warren, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of one count attempted improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and one count attempted receiving stolen property. Judge Logan sentenced Woodall to serve nine months in state prison. The case stemmed from a May 12, 2023, traffic stop in the 5200 block of Highland Avenue SW in Lordstown where police search Woodall’s vehicle and found a firearm underneath the driver’s seat. The gun was identified as being earlier stolen from the Rattlesnake Hill gun shop in Braceville. Records show Woodall had purchased the firearm “off the streets.”
  • Matthew Cottrill, 24, of Warren, pleaded guilty to three counts of fourth degree aggravated trafficking in drugs and will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation conducted by probation officers. Cottrill, who could face up to 54 months in prison, was the subject of an investigation conducted by Trumbull County Sheriff TAG officers during May 2021 involving the sale of methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, commonly known as Ecstasy, and Psilocybin, which is often derived from mushrooms.
  • Lemon Joe, 34, of Warren, pleaded guilty to three drug counts involving a fentanyl-related compound, two counts of trafficking and one count of possession. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors said Joe agreed to forfeit $993 that was seized by Warren police officers during a search of a Belvedere Avenue SE home in May 2022. Joe had been the subject of an investigation conducted by the department’s Street Crime Unit and could face a sentence of up to 14 years in prison.
