96.6% of the way to reaching goal for state poll workers

Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties are all among the 53 Ohio counties still in need of poll workers to meet the goal set by the state.

Over half of the 53 Ohio counties seeking more poll workers to meet the goal are minimally equipped to handle the August voters. The state wants extra hands on deck, just in case.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose said that while Ohio has passed the minimum number of poll workers needed to conduct the election, they want a total of 31,811, which is 115% of the minimum.

This will “ensure a sufficient number of poll workers is available in case of an emergency.” Ohio counties are over 95% of the way to reaching this lofty statewide goal.

Anyone interested in signing up to be a poll worker still has time and can find necessary information online.

How many poll workers are still needed to reach the goal in the Mahoning Valley area?

In Mahoning County, the goal is to have 976 people recruited to work the polls.

Currently, 910 people have signed up for Mahoning County, but to hit the goal, they want to recruit around 80 more poll workers in the county under either Democrat or Republican affiliation.

In Trumbull County, the goal is 649, but only 416 have signed up to work the polls in two weeks. The minimum required for election day is 564.

They’ll want to recruit at least 233 more poll workers to sign up to hit the state’s goal of 115%.

Columbiana County’s goal is 351, but only 305 have signed up to work the polls.

They’ll need about 27 more poll workers to sign up for Columbiana County’s election night.
