Mahoning Valley Mobile Market celebrates first anniversary

The Mahoning Valley Mobile Market is celebrating one year of operations.

Founded in May 2022 by ACTION and Flying HIGH Inc., the Mobile Market’s goals include reducing food insecurity by eliminating food access barriers, increasing healthy food consumption, particularly fruits and vegetables, and to increase the overall health of our residents through better nutrition and healthy food access.

In addition, it provides job readiness training to help transition individuals back into the workforce.

The Mahoning Valley Mobile Market exceeded expectations in its first year of operations by serving 8,848 Mahoning County residents at 343 sites.

“The Mobile Market is doing exactly what it is meant to do, serve people who most need access to healthy food” said Rose Carter, ACTION’s Executive Director.

Jeff Magada from Flying HIGH Inc. added; “The Market’s ability to provide accessibility and availability to people living in food deserts throughout Mahoning County is tremendous.”
