Golf tournament raising funds for adaptive sports programs in Mahoning County

Adaptive Sports Ohio organizes community-based athletic competitions for individuals with physical disabilities of all ages and backgrounds.

These community-based programs are currently offered in Mahoning, Wayne, Cuyahoga, and Lucas counties but extend to athletes across the state.

Everyone deserves a chance to play

There’s an event coming up this weekend for the community to directly support Adaptive Sports Ohio programs and teams in Mahoning County.

This Sunday, tee up for the fifth annual Adaptive Sports Ohio golf tournament raising funds to support the Youngstown programs serving individuals with physical disabilities.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. at The Flying B Golf Course in Salem and ends at noon.

During the event, there’s a silent auction, prizes at every hole, a 50/50 raffle, challenges through the course, and the Kevin Glines Memorial Marshmallow Long Drive Contest.

Sponsors for the event include Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman; TMI, Inc.; Boardman Mitsubishi; The Arms Trucking Company; Mahoning Valley NECA; Simco Management Corporation; Cafaro Foundation; BSHM Architects and Associated School Employees Credit Union.

Here are the sponsorship opportunities still available for Sunday’s golf tournament.

Adaptive Sports Ohio served hundreds of physically disabled young people, adults, and veterans in the 11 years since the organization’s inception. They’re headquartered in Wooster with a satellite office on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown.

Adaptive Sports Ohio will also host a free outdoor family fun day from 3 – 7 p.m. on Aug. 6 at 7209 W Calla Road in Canfield.

It’s hosted in partnership with On Target Outfitters and Akron Children’s Hospital’s Parent Advisory Council, led by Dr. Sheryl Handler of the Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Orthopedics Department.
