Niles man gets 2-3 years in prison for felonious assault
The following action was taken Monday before Judge Cynthia Rice of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:
- Denny Lee Adkins, 44, of Niles, was sentenced to a prison sentence of two to three years after pleading guilty in May of a second-degree felonious assault charge. Adkins was charged after an altercation at a Niles apartment on Jan. 13, 2023, where a woman’s shoulder was broken in two places. Adkins was credited for serving 200 days in the county jail and could face between 18 months and three years of post-release supervision after his prison term.
- Johnny Taylor, 19, of Front Street, Warren, was given two-year basic probation after pleading guilty in June to misdemeanors of carrying concealed weapon and defacing identification off a firearm. Taylor, a former high school footballs tandout, was given a jail sentence that was suspended pending the completion of his probation. The judge noted he has no felony convictions.
