St. Elizabeth Boardman celebrates ‘Sweet 16’ anniversary
Mercy Health’s St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital employees celebrated a special anniversary together on Thursday.
The staff members enjoyed a midday picnic commemorating the hospital’s 16th anniversary.
St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital opened its doors in 2007, and five years later, it expanded significantly with a 165,000-square-foot, seven-story inpatient bed tower.
Organizers provided some highlights from the past 16 years:
- St. Elizabeth in Boardman achieved Magnet status in nursing in 2011
- Relocated Labor and Delivery to Boardman in 2014.
- Now, more than 3,500 babies are delivered each year at the hospital.
- Expanded physician network by adding three residency programs to campus, including emergency medicine, family medicine, and otolaryngology
- The Robotics program for general and gynecological surgical procedures began in 2017, growing year over year to more than 750 procedures being performed annually.
- A specialized robot for total hip and total knee replacements was added 2018. Now, more than 300 of these types of procedures are done yearly.
- Added urological robotics in 2021
- Opened medical oncology and infusion services in a medical office building in 2021
