Youngstown firefighters rescued a dog from a structure fire at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of Belden Ave.

Paramedics from an EMT ambulance assisted in the call and the dog was taken to MedVet Urgent Care in Girard and transported to MedVet Akron for hospitalization.

According to an Animal Charity of Ohio Facebook post, the dog has a burned tail, sore eyes and respiratory distress from his loss of consciousness and smoke inhalation.

“We are claiming custody of this pup so he can urgently get the care he needs,” they wrote on a Facebook post. “This being said he will need a lot of on going care. If you could donate to his care and our mission we would be greatly appreciative.”

No other injuries were reported in the fire.
