Youngstown State’s Tyshon King is MVFC Newcomer of the Week after win vs. Valparaiso
Youngstown State senior tailback Tyshon King was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s Newcomer of the Week following an impressive debut in the Penguins’ 52-10 season-opening win over Valparaiso last Thursday.
Joining King as Players of the week were QB Nic Baker of Southern Illinois (Offense); S Cole Wisniewski of North Dakota State (Defense) and P Kaedin Steindorf of North Dakota State (Special Teams).
King rushed for 111 yards and had two touchdowns in the Penguins’ 52-10 win over Valparaiso. King scored on a 62-yard run in the first quarter before adding a one-yard score in the fourth period.
He transferred to YSU this fall after spending the previous four seasons at Northern Michigan. Last year he was named a first-team All-GLIAC selection as a running back.
The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they visit Ohio State. Kickoff against the Buckeyes is set for noon.
