Local entrepreneurs acquire Gorant Chocolates

Gorant Chocolates has been acquired by Youngstown Chocolate LLC, owned by local businessmen Bergen Giordani and Dr. Nino Rubino.

The new owners have announced the following changes with the new location.

The Market Street store will be moved to 410 Boardman-Poland Road before the holiday season.

Other updates on the horizon included an enhanced website along with a fundraising and corporate sales division.

The new owners intend to retain all current employees with the intent to add five new positions over the next 12 months.

“We are grateful to be trusted with such an important piece of local history and are excited to elevate the Gorant brand and carry it forward to be enjoyed by the next generation of sweet lovers,” Giordani said.

Giordani, known for local favorites such One Hot Cookie and OH Donut Co., along with Rubino, a family medicine practitioner and partner at Poland Medical Center, have built their businesses on family and philanthropy.

“We’ve been fortunate to be supported by so many in the Valley and understand we have a responsibility to give back to the incredible place we call home,” said Dr. Rubino

The two licensee stores in Howland and Austintown will remain under their current ownership.
