Youngstown woman gets at least six years in prison for felonious assault
The following action was taken Thursday before Judge Ronald J. Rice of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:
- Vanity Jones, 30 of Seneca Street, Youngstown was given an indefinite term of six to eight and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of felonious assault that carries a mandatory one-year gun specification. Jones was involved in a shots fired call where Warren police responded April 21, 2023, to the Pit Stop at 1708 Youngstown Road. Officers found one 9 mm shell casing near the reported location of the shooting, where no one was injured. The victim did not speak in the courtroom but submitted a written impact statement to the court. Jones told the judge “I had no right to engage in that kind of behavior. I allowed my anger.. to get the best of me.”
- Jeremy M, Feidler, 39, of North Park Avenue, Warren, received consecutive sentences totaling 30 months in prison after he pleaded guilty last month to felony charges of vandalism and aggravated menacing. Feidler was charged with breaking windows on Aug. 31, 2022 at the Trumbull County Children Services agency on Reeves Road NE in Warren. He later created a separate disturbance at his former workplace, reports stated. Feidler pleaded guilty after a psychological evaluation found him competent to stand trial. Judge Rice said consecutive sentences were necessary to protect the public from future crimes. The judge also ordered Feidler to pay $3239 in restitution to CSB to pay to replace the broken windows. He also was ordered to have no contact with the agency. Feidler was credited for 481 days served in jail while awaiting resolution of his case.
- David J. Martin, 40, received a 24-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to a third-degree felony escape charge. Martin went AWOL for 30 days from the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program, a sentence as part of his drug court conviction, after he was hospitalized in July at Trumbull Memorial Medical Center because of a medical condition. Prosecutors said Martin left the hospital on his own and did not inform NEOCAP authorities. He was arrested on Aug. 21, 2023.
- Montez Williams, 33, of Cleveland, received an 18-month prison sentence for violating probation That sentence will be served consecutively to a 10-month term Williams received Wednesday from Judge Cynthia Rice for a possession of crack/cocaine conviction. Williams received a five-year probation from Judge Ronald Rice in September 2021 after pleading guilty to an improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle charge, a fourth-degree felony.
