Several issues on the ballot were successfully passed by voters last night, on both a statewide and local scale.

Youngstown voters passed an emergency levy renewal for the city’s school district, according to local reports and the Mahoning County Board of Elections.

President of the Youngstown Board of Education Tiffany Patterson expressed gratitude toward voters.

“It’s inspiring to see our community unite for our scholars,” said Patterson. “Our voters see the systematic changes and progress we are making, and the renewal helps ensure our schools are able to continue to provide the resources to support our scholars, teachers, and administrators in the YCSD.”

The passage of the renewal levy extends the term of the levy that’s already in place for four additional years.

YCSD will use the funds, $5,291,510 annually, for utilities costs, transportation and overall day-to-day operational expenses.

It costs $333 for taxpayers per year, according to the YCSD website.
