The following cases were handled Monday morning before Judge Cynthia Rice of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Dontavious T. Wallace, 25, of Ada Avenue, Warren received an indefinite prison term of five to six years after pleading guilty to a second-degree felonious assault felony and a third-degree tampering with evidence charge. The charges stem from a July 18, 2023, drive-by shooting on Clay Street in Niles. According to reports, at least 14 shots were fired from a silver Volkswagen missing the man living at the Niles home. Niles police stated the incident seemed to come from a personal beef between two men. Wallace was identified as one of three persons in the Volkswagen which was tracked down using the Niles Flock camera system that identifies license plates. The vehicle was found at a southeast Warren home where Warren and Niles officers found a .380 caliber firearm involved in the shooting. Wallace also was guilty of a firearm specification, which calls for a mandatory three-year term included in the prison sentence.
  • Casey J. Carpenter, 38, of Front Street SW, Warren, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated possession of drugs and was given a seven-month prison sentence. The case involved a traffic stop on State Route 5 in Bazetta where authorities found 0.15 grams of methamphetamine, prosecutors said. Carpenter’s sentence will be served at the same time of a six-month sentence he received on Nov. 14 on a conviction of a fourth-degree charge of theft from a person in a protected class. That case involved an Aug. 31, 2023, incident where a 75-year-old man was robbed of $3,000 at an ATM machine.
  • Brent J. McCullough, 37, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree domestic violence felony. McCullough, who could face up to 18 months in prison, will be sentenced after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers. McCullough was charged in an Sept. 14, 2023, incident in Warren where he punched a female relative in the face. The felony charge stemmed from McCullough’s previous domestic violence conviction in Youngstown in 2015, prosecutors said. After the plea hearing, the judge released McCullough on a personal bond provided he have no contact with the victim and report periodically to probation officers.
