MCCTC students build fireplace for Santa
Students at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center are putting what they’ve learned to good use.
MCCTC students studying construction and welding crafted a backdrop fireplace for the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ Kristmas at Kirtz.
Kristmas at Kirtz is an annual holiday celebration at the Leonard Kirtz School in Austintown, which is a program for children and young adults with developmental disabilities between the ages of five and 22.
There are currently 65 students enrolled at the school at the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
During Kristmas at Kirtz, students, family members and staff members took pictures together, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and enjoyed holiday refreshments like hot chocolate and cookies.
The event was organized by the PTA at Kirtz.
Liberty Police Departments hosts Coffee with a Cop
Liberty Township police officers have spent the week engaging with the community.
The Liberty Township Police Department hosted Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday at 9 a.m. until noon at Bob Evans on Belmont Avenue.
The purpose of Coffee with a Cop is to break down barriers between first responders and community members.
On Dec. 2, the township gathered to light a 30-foot Christmas tree in front of Liberty Township building, giving Santa Claus a lift on a township fire truck escorted by Liberty Police Department.
Salem police collecting items for the Columbiana County Humane Society
Help the City of Salem Police Department collect needed items for animals at the Columbiana County Humane Society.
Donations can be dropped off any time today through Dec. 29 at Salem City Hall.
They’re asking for Pedigree and Iams puppy food, blankets, kitten replacement milk and treats for dogs.
