Geauga County truck crash reportedly contained waste from East Palestine derailment site
A truck crash in Russell Township in Geauga County early Tuesday morning. reportedly spilled 4-5 gallons of a Class 9 hazardous material from the East Palestine crash site.
The spill was contained by Hazmat crews.
According to a release from the Russell Fire Department, the truck crashed at the intersection of Chagrin Mills Road and Chillicothe Road.
When fire officials arrived, they found a dual-axel tanker on it’s side and off the roadway.
The driver was treated and taken to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital.
The truck was carrying about 5,000 gallons of hazardous waste from the East Palestine train derailment site, according to a WKBN report, which added that the waste was mostly rainwater collected from the area that was not treated by the village’s wastewater treatment facility, according to an EPA spokesperson.
