Youngstown homeowner discovers bullet holes, porch on fire
Youngstown police officers collected evidence at a house on South Heights Avenue that was hit by gunshots and the porch set on fire.
Several police officers responded to the call before 2 a.m. Jan. 13 in the area of 1960 South Heights in Youngstown.
The home was occupied at the time; the owner explained to officers there were three people sleeping inside at the time of the gunfire, according to police reports.
She told police when she came downstairs after hearing the gunshots, she saw her side porch that’s also facing west was on fire.
The homeowner showed police two bullet holes in her living room wall facing west, reports say.
Police reports say the Youngstown Fire Department arson investigator is looking into the cause of the fire.
A neighbor also told police he heard the gunshots, then saw the porch was on fire, according to police reports.
The neighbor told police he didn’t see or hear anyone driving away from the house after the incident.
Reports show on Jan. 14, another neighbor in the area reported property damage on her front porch caused by the same gunfire from the night before.
Police also worked on acquiring surveillance camera footage from the neighborhood.
