Current Youngstown State theatre students putting on play written by alumna
Students in the Youngstown State University Theatre department are putting on a play written by a graduate of the college.
Alumna Amber Palmer wrote “It’s a Small World or The Robot Play,“ which is premiering at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Spotlight Theater inside YSU’s Bliss Hall.
Palmer received a B.A. in Theater Studies and Professional and Technical Writing at YSU.
A major theme of the play deals with “the blurring lines between technology and humanity.”
With A.I. technology popping up everywhere in 2024, the play is said to be a thought-provoking exploration of the implications of artificial intelligence and the future.
The play is directed by Todd Dicken in Bliss Hall, which is located at 547 Wick Ave. in Youngstown.
Get tickets online or call the University Theater ticket office at (330) 941-3105. YSU students get in free.
If you can’t make it to the premiere on Friday, “It’s a Small World” will go on again at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 18.
Then the following weekend, they’re putting on shows at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23-24 and the final matinee at 2 p.m. on Feb. 25.
