Goshen Township police officer, Salem woman hospitalized after crash

A Goshen Township police officer and a Salem woman were transported to the hospital Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 165 and U.S. Route 62.

According to reports, a 2018 Nissan Altima driven by Sue Leclerc was northbound on US Route 62 when it entered the intersection on a green traffic signal and struck the Ford Explorer driven by police officer Zachary Hodgson that was traveling westbound on Ohio 165 on a red traffic signal. The Ford Explorer traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned multiple times.

Leclerc and Hodgson were both transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, where they were listed in stable condition.

The intersection of State Route 165, and US Route 62 was closed for a brief time and has since reopened.

Agencies assisting at the scene were the Green Township Fire Department and EMS, Goshen Township Police Department, and Salem Police Department.

This crash remains under investigation.
