Cortland man accused of breaking into Valley View Food Mart

An 18-year-old Cortland man was taken into custody and accused of breaking into the Valley View Food Mart, 650 S. High St., in Cortland, sometime in the early morning hours of Feb. 21.

According to a Cortland police report, Jonathan T. Dunbar of Maplewood Drive, Cortland, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, petty theft, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief and criminal damaging/endangering. The report stated a suspect entered the business by smashing a window. About $800 in merchandise was taken including vape cartridges, the report states. All stolen items were recovered.

Dunbar was arraigned Feb. 23 before Central District Judge Thomas Campbell, who set a personal bond and set the case for pre-trial. Dunbar pleaded not guilty to all charges.
